Description

Medium size butterfly. Fw: 21-25 mm.
Ups: white gc.
Upf: black round spot in s3 not touching marginal black triangles along the outer margin, preapical marking (stronger in summer generation)
Uph: costal mark in s6.
Unh: typical grey-green pattern on basal and discal area (less pronounced in summer generation, sometimes reduced to the costal area)

Slightly larger.
Upf: more extensive black markings, postdiscal spot touching the marginal triangles near the outer margin.

Similar species
None.
Life cycle
Adults: three to four generations (depending on altitude) from March to September.
Egg: probably short.
Caterpillar: probably short stage.
Pupa: overwintering.
Habitat
Pieris krueperi inhabits dry, warm rocky or precipitous places, karstic areas and quarries from lowland up to 1200 m a.s.l. or more.
Spatial requirement moderate, population density can be high.
Foodplants
Caterpillars feed on Alyssum montanum, also mentioned are Alyssum corymbosoides, Alyssoides utriculata and Aurinia saxatilis.
Butterflies feed on a large variety of flowers.
Distribution
Albania: local at the northern limit of its distribution range in the Balkan peninsula (more research needed)
Balkan: AL - BG - BIH - GR - HR - NMK - MNE - RKS - RO - SLO - SRB
Europe: IB - IT - ALP - BAL - NWE - UK - SCA - EEU
Asia Minor, Transcaucasia and further east.
Conservation status
Pieris kreuperi is not endangered.
Albanian Red List: VU.
IUCN Red List, category at the Mediterranean level: LC.
